Mrs. Falk’s Birthday!

Diane

We had a special surprise today when our music teacher, Mrs. Falk, donated a birthday book in honor of her own birthday to the library. Such a great idea! You don’t have to be a student to donate a birthday book. Just think how many wonderful books the library would gain if everyone in the school donated a  new book to the library for their birthdays or half birthdays! Mrs. Falk donated Of Thee I Sing: A Letter To My Daughters, by Barack Obama. It is illustrated by Loren Long who is one of my favorite illustrators. In this book, President Obama writes a letter to his daughters and includes a celebration of thirteen Americans who have helped shape our nation; such as Georgia O’Keefe, Jackie Robinson, and George Washington. “Have I told you that you are strong?” He writes, and then he tells the story of Helen Keller and what she taught all of us. This is a lovely book and a delightful addition to our library collection. Thank you, Mrs. Falk!
