Ahoy, Matey! We haven’t had a Hidden Treasure Reader for awhile, but recently Inge read Babe, The Gallant Pig by Dick King-Smith. Inge told me she rates this book four stars; she really loved it. Written in 1983, this lovely story of Babe the pig adopted by Fly, the old sheepdog, has become a timeless classic. Hidden Treasure Readers find a book on the shelf that has a gold star on the spine. This means that the book is old but wonderful, or a literature classic. After reading the book, I give them a short quiz and then they win a small prize and get their name in Go For the Gold. Inge thinks everyone should check this book out or walk the gangplank!
