Spine poetry, those who follow this blog will remember, is simply taking titles of books and making free-verse poetry with them. The fifth grade worked really hard on their poems for two class periods, piling books and deciding what the theme of their poems would be. So without further ado, here are the winners of the fifth grade spine poetry contest!
FIRST PLACE: LILY
SECOND PLACE: JOHNNY
THIRD PLACE: MARY KATE
FOURTH PLACE: SEAN M.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OUR PARTICIPANTS. YOU ALL DID A GREAT JOB!
I remember when my class did that last year😃

Jeremy was so sad he didn’t win. He came home from practice and told me to check. Do you have photos of all of them? I’d like to see his.

We loved Jeremy’s poems! There were so many good ones this time;it was a hard decision for us. Yes, I hope to post more of them in the next few days. Honestly, I wish they all could have won.
