Friends

One of the best things about working in a school library is getting to know all the wonderful people who come in to volunteer. Over the years many have become great friends as we share our love of books and laughter. One special volunteer is Leslie Heinrichs who helps out every Tuesday afternoon. Leslie has two sons, Michael and Kenny, who attend St. Eugene and she works as an archivist for the Marcus Corporation. As you can imagine, having an archivist as a volunteer in the library is fantastic. Leslie helps process books and gets me organized!

Recently Leslie shared with me that she collects vintage paper dolls and that she had a set Β from the Trixie Beldon series by Kathryn Kenny. Trixie Beldon was one of my favorites when I was in elementary school and our library still has a few of the books. To me, she was more “modern” than Nancy Drew and I longed to be Honey, Trixie’s best friend. Here is a photo of the display that Leslie set up today in the library; you can see Trixie, Honey, Jim and Mart. πŸ™‚
